MA D1 Cross Rankings 10/24

Remember, these are just my opinions:

1. Newton South- How in the world did the MSTCA rank Mansfield ahead?

2. Mansfield- I was convinced at Brown.

3. St. John's Prep- Solid showing at CMI... tied for second (took fourth in tiebreak)

4. St. John's Shrewsbury- Why do people keep doubting them?

5. Amherst-Pelham- Yeah, they're really good... but overrated in MSTCA polling

6. Methuen- How are they ahead of SJP on MSTCA?  They tied at CMIs, and SJP didn't even have their number three

7. Nashoba Regional- Not a school you hear a ton about- look out

8. Brookline- I haven't lost the faith in this squad just yet.

9. Whitman-Hanson- Finally one the MSTCA got right!

10. Lexington- Basically a toss up between them, Shrewsbury, and Xaverian

Outside the top 10:

  • Xaverian Brothers- According to my sources, Peter Dolan is returning from injury at the Catholic Conference Classic tomorrow- don't forget about them.
  • Shrewsbury- Vastly overrated in MSTCA polling, but right where they belong here.
  • Newton North- Free-falling not because they have gotten worse, but because everyone else has gotten so much better.
  • Lowell- Same story as with NN
  • North Andover- They've come on strong as of late, don't doubt them as championship season gets into full swing

On the D2 Front:

  • Bishop Feehan- Still undeniably #1
  • Hamilton Wenham- Starting to fall a little bit on my radar, but still someone to look out for.
  • Malden Catholic- Tough to judge a D2 team that runs in what is essenitally a D1 Conference (Catholic Conference- SJP, Xaverian, BC High, only other D2 is Catholic Memorial), but they beat CM and their top two of Colvin and Lakkis, and have held their own (relatively speaking) with the D1 Schools.  And after taking 14 at a loaded D2 Brown Invite, they are worth a small mention.

On the Girls Side:

  • Lincoln Sudbury, Newton South, & Haverhill- I'm going to have to keep repeating them until something surprising happens.
  • Wachusett- Underrated early on, now showing what they are truly capable of.
  • Newton North- Dropping a bit on my list... but still very strong.
  • Beverly- For the third straight week in a row... watch out for them.  When you have Kelly O'Connor and Monica Adler leading the way, well, you really have to watch them.
  • Hamilton-Wenham & Bishop Feehan- Leading the way on the D2 side, and for good reason.
