Norwell - The Norwell girls cross country team ended the fall with another undefeated season in dual meets. The Lady Clipper runners were led by a senior captain who has overcome a lengthy period of injury and a junior who is among the state’s elite in her sport.

Senior Nicole Weiler, among the state’s top runners as a freshman and sophomore, has struggled with injuries for most of the last two years. Weiler finished this season healthier than she has been in a long time, and was running like it. Junior Shannon Ferguson, meanwhile, is among top cross country runners in Massachusetts.

On Oct. 25, Ferguson defeated 45 runners from five non-league schools to win the Hockomock Invitational in Wrentham. Weiler finished fourth and seven Norwell girls finished in the top 25.
